Rent receipt generator
Fill in the payment and download a receipt ready to print, text or email to your tenant.
For information only. Check it against your lease and, if needed, with a lawyer.
What's on the receipt
- the date of the payment and the amount you received,
- the rent period it covers,
- how it was paid: cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, ACH bank transfer or other,
- the property address and the names of the tenant and the landlord,
- a line for your signature.
Whether a receipt is required, and what it must include, can depend on your state and city. This receipt covers the basics; check the rules where your rental is if you need something more.
Tips
- Make one receipt for each payment, including partial payments, with the amount you actually got.
- Write the rent period the way you and your tenant use it, for example “October 2026” or “Oct 1–31, 2026”.
- Keep a copy of every receipt with your records.
